Steps to obtain Learning License (LL)

•  To obtain permanent Driving License(DL) first you need to have a LL. 
• Steps goes as follows:-
• Visit "https://sarathi.nic.in:8443/nrportal/sarathi/HomePage.jsp"
• Click on "Issue of a Learning Licence to me"
• One pdf would be downloaded !
• Fill up that pdf taking into considerations few guidelines at the last page.
• You might (if not skip 3 points) come across a few problems due to no drop-down menu while selecting state in the pdf filling.
• It can be resolved by opening that LL pdf in your browser.
• e.g in firefox go to settings-> options -> applications -> in content type select Portable Document Format and in Action select Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox).
• Now you would be able to fill up the form with ease.
• After the form is filled, check once again the details you have filled and then  click on the submit option.
• Note down the web application number that is generated.
• It will be required for taking an appointment for LL test.
• Again go to the website  "https://sarathi.nic.in:8443/nrportal/sarathi/HomePage.jsp"
• Now you need to have an appointment for your test. 
• Visit "https://sarathi.nic.in:8443/nrportal/sarathi/HomePage.jsp"
• Click on "Appointment for slot booking".
• On top left corner click " LL slot booking -> LL test for online applicantions "
• Take appointment as preferred.
• Have a print of it !
• Come to the home page of sarathi website.
• Click on "Print Application Form"
• Take a print out of this form as this would be required to be submitted at the RTO office.
• Things required to be submitted at the RTO office.
• Print out of the application form.
• Print out of appointment taken.
• Some people(especially which came through agent) will also have the printout of the pdf you filled in the very first step but that is not compulsory. So, son't freak out !
• Original and copies of address proof  and age proof ( Refer sarathi website "How do i get my Learning License").
• Receipt of the amount paid at the RTO should be preserved, it will be used in obtaining DL. (because along with LL you have paid for DL too).
• Medical certificate is also needed but that will be available at lahris outside RTO office for Rs 10 (Yeh he mera INDIA ;) ).
• I had bad experiences obtaining my LL due to some or the other documents missing.

• Please download guideline pdfs available on sarathi website so that you have detailed information about vaild proofs for address & age proof, fess for LL and other instructions are given.
• Prepare for the test well, data is available on sarathi website.

DRIVING LICENSE 

• It is easier than to obtain LL, after one month of obtaining for LL you can apply for DL.
• Documents required are :- 
• Receipts of amount paid.
• Form4 "Form 4 (New DL)" on sarathi website.
• Again take appointment for driving test.
• Take two appointment separately if you applied for vehicle with gear/without gear and car license.
• Visit "http://drivingtesttrack.in/getappointment.htm"
•  Print of this appointment date and time.
